Bangkok TEFL Course
As a focal point for beginning your career Teaching English in Thailand, Bangkok has many advantages.Bangkok has been the center of economic, political and social activity for Thailand and all of SE Asia for more than 200 years. "Krung Thep," as the city is know in Thai, is a modern metropolis offering a mix of Thai, Western, Chinese and Indian cultures. With a population of more than 15 million in the greater Bangkok area, the city is a buzzing, global destination for citizens from every part of the world.
Bangkok is also known as "the Venice of the East" with the Chao Phraya River bisecting the city and numerous rivers, streams and canals running through the city. Bangkok is also a city of contrasts with over 1000 skyscrapers often adjacant to large swathes of green zones formally protected by the Forestry Department. Lumphini Park is Bangkok's "Central Park," and is a center of recreational activity for citizens.
Efforts have been made to modernize her transportation infrastructure and getting around Bangkok is surprisingly manageable. The BTS Skytrain has been a welcome relief to many as the pace of road development and planning can barely match the demands of new vehicles on Bangkok's roads and streets.
As one of the worlds' top travel destinations, Bangkok teems with historic sites including The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Suthat. Museums and Venues devoted to various arts abound as do shopping and entertainment venues including Siam Square, MBK and Siam Paragon - Bangkok is renowned for the diversity and abundance of shopping opportunities. You can also find anything you might want to eat including food from humble & delicious street food carts to world class gourmet fare of all types. Bangkok's nightlife offerings include everything from modern western discos or martini bars to traditional Thai shadow puppet shows.
Bangkok may face many of the same problems as other major global cities, but what sets her apart is the wonderful attitude and demeanor of her citizens. The "mai pen rai" (no big deal / anything is possible) attitude is infectious and even if you should find yourself stuck in a traffic jam, you'll be able to relax and enjoy the experience.
