Chiang Mai - Rose of the North
Beginning your career teaching English in Thailand by completing your TEFL course in Chiang Mai provides unique opportunities to encounter a touch of “Old Thailand.” Chiang Mai has a timeless quality and is rich in history as a focal point of all of Northern Thailand. Chiang Mai has a population of more than one million in the greater metro area.
Thailand's "Rose of the North” dates from the ancient days of Siam and has been continuously inhabited since her founding. Chiang Mai is significant in terms of her cultural presence and location on traditional trade routes and the Ping River. Of historical note are the moat and city walls engineered as a means to repel Burmese invaders. With her continuing growth, Chiang Mai has spilled over these structures and the moat has recently been drained to facilitate repair and renovation.
The city is home to over 300 Buddhist temples (know as “Wats” in Thai) and their architecture ranges from very traditional examples of northern Thailand's architectural styles as well as temples constructed in Burmese and Sri Lankan motifs. Doi Suthep is among the most famous Wats in the area. A vast array of guardian figures, incredible wood carving and golden leaf roofs guarantee that any Wat is worth exploring and appreciating for the style and expertise of the northern craftsmen.
Don't be misled – Chiang Mai is a thoroughly modern city, largely without the challenging conditions of a sprawling metropolis like Bangkok. The city features many attractions for foreign tourists who visit each year. With a long tradition of expertise in silver smithing, wood carving, umbrella production and various other handcrafts, Chiang Mai is a shopping destination for those interested in traditional craft work. The many bazaars & open air markets provide ample opportunity to shop until you drop.
Chiang Mai's other notable feature is access to the hills and mountains of northern Thailand and the variety of cultures found there. The chance to engage in some “Hill-tribe tourism” by way of trekking should not be missed during your stay. There is also an Elephant Nature Park, several golf courses, mountain biking & kayaking and river running on bamboo rafts. The area features waterfalls, caves, hot springs and abundant flora and fauna – namely butterflies.
Our School, Course and Staff
Our training center is located within easy walking distance of shopping and dining opportunities. There are many alternatives for transportation, including the possibility of hiring a motorbike or bicycle. Be careful as you begin to learn the rules of Thailand traffic flow.

The school buzzes with the energy of students coming and going throughout the day and you'll have plenty of chances to meet other teachers, Thai students and members of the community. The staff is very friendly and often eager to join in on your local excursions or shopping trips. The course includes training in all necessary areas of expertise that will make you a better teacher. Your teaching success is our goal.
As with our other courses, the amount of training is 120 hours and this is completed in four weeks. You'll know the ins and outs of English, be armed with strategies and tactics for classroom management and effective teaching, have opportunity to engage with students in actual teaching and will be able to establish some basic Thai language skills.
