Why Krabi – Ao Nang?
Krabi is a both a province and town of superior natural beauty on the western coast of southern Thailand. Krabi has a long history of settlement, with archaeological findings dating humans in the region to perhaps 35,000 BC.
Krabi Town is the capital and central point of the province of Krabi. There is a comprehensive commercial district, shopping, dining, and is very world-class beaches are just kilometers away for a weekend excursion.
SCUBA diving is also quite popular here, with easy access and uncrowded diving as compared to other areas in Thailand. Second in popularity to diving is the world-class climbing opportunities among the limestone cliffs in neighboring areas. The Krabi coastline is dotted with rarely visited tropical islands, palm fringed beaches, waterfalls, caves, and scenic rock formations.
Krabi is a great place to relax. The pace is unhurried and many beaches can only be reached by boat, keeping development to a minimum. Much of the province has been designated as a national park. The islands are best visited during the non-monsoon months of October through April. As well as beautiful and relaxing scenery, Krabi offers a cornucopia of adventure for those who like to get out, with: kayaking, sailing, birdwatching, snorkeling, island exploring of waterfalls and caves, and opportunities for trekking, birdwatching and other eco-tours.
Relatively new to tourism, the area is being carefully developed with scarce real high-rise construction and yet features a wide range of accommodation types - from small cozy bungalows to the five star prestigious Sheraton Resort. Most accommodation is located around the beach areas of Ao Nang, Rai Ley and Phra Nang with some small local hotels in the provincial capital, Krabi town.
In recent years, natural attractions such as tropical islands, palm fringed beaches, forest waterfalls and caves are attracting more tourists. While Krabi has begun to earn a substantial income from its tourism industry, farming and agriculture predominate economically with rubber, palm oil, oranges, coconuts, and coffee all being locally grown. Fishing activity is prevalent along the coastline and on most larger islands. "Sea Gypsies" reside on various islands in Krabi's waters, and make their traditional living wandering around fishing and diving. Their traditional ways which are presented in the yearly sea gypsy sailing festival held in May.
Our School, Course and Staff
Our school is located in Krabi Town and near local markets and shopping. The facility is modern and comfortable and our staff is very accommodating. The course is comprehensive and includes everything you may need to know to prepare you to teach English in Thailand or across the world. Our 100- hour TEFL course is held for four weeks and features 6 hours of observed teaching practice, increasing to 20 hours in January. Our industry expert, Ron, conducts the TEFL course and we have a small group of experienced classroom observers for your practice teaching sessions. The course consists of modules on: lesson planning, presentation skills, classroom management, communicative activities, course book evaluation, games and activities for the EFL / ESL class, modern teaching methodologies, comparison of the English and Thai languages, teaching theory, error correction, language awareness, phonetics and phonemics.
At the end of the course there is an optional complimentary 20-hour Thai Langauge Lesson course.
